In 2015, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources selected Brown, Mitchell & Alexander, Inc. (BMA) to provide professional engineering and survey services for the Deer Island Pier project. The challenge to this project was to manage the delivery of materials and machinery to the island which was only accessible via shallow draft barge. Additional care had to be put in place to minimalize the disturbance of protected marine wildlife. This project includes the construction of a 170 foot pier with a 20 x 30 foot dock and lighting.
