Gulfport Sportsplex & Expansion

The City of Gulfport retained the services of Brown, Mitchell & Alexander, Inc. (BMA) to provide civil engineering services for the construction of the Gulfport Sportsplex, a 250-acre recreational park located near Interstate 10 in Gulfport, MS. This championship facility included five (5) senior softball fields, four (4) women’s softball fields and four (4) international size soccer fields, state-of-the-art concession and scoring towers as well as facility control center and maintenance building. This multi-million dollar facility was built in several phases and accommodates numerous tournaments annually.

Recognizing sports tourism is big business, in 2016, BMA was again selected by the City for design of an expansion to the Sportsplex which includes the addition of two (2) natural turf multi-purpose sports fields, six (6) fully synthetic ballfields, associated pavilions and buildings, sidewalks and hardscape, access road realignment, utilities, drainage and parking. BMA also has taken the lead in coordination of other work outside of our design such as the synthetic turf and LED Lighting. When expansion is completed in late spring 2017, the Gulfport Sportsplex will be one of the largest ball complexes in the region.
