Mississippi Aquarium

about this project

The new Mississippi Aquarium planned for the Gulfport waterfront is expected to elevate the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast to a premier family-friendly tourist destination. One of the signature features is an outdoor river and estuaries representative of the Coast environment. The design reflects an outdoor campus where visitors will follow paths from each exhibit surrounded by lush landscape and educational information. The aquarium also plans to team with Coast Transit Authority to build a pedestrian bridge that would provide access from the Aquarium campus to Jones Park.

Eley Guild Hardy Architects (EGH) was selected as lead designer for the MS Aquarium based on their local experience and project team. Amongst the design team is PGAV Destinations of St. Louis who has been involved in the designs of Bush Gardens, the Georgia Aquarium and Universal Studios. EGH added BMA to assist with civil site design, surveying, environmental site assessment and permitting assistance, due to our vast experience with projects in Downtown Gulfport and Jones Park.
