Brown, Mitchell & Alexander, Inc. (BMA), has provided full-service engineering and surveying for Florence Gardens, a 420-acre master planned garden community nestled in Gulfport, Mississippi combining timeless Southern architecture and picturesque community spaces. Florence Gardens is unique to South Mississippi in that it combines Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) and Low Impact Development (LID) practices throughout the development. Florence Gardens has been recognized by the Sun Herald with Design & Planning awards in: Landscape Architecture and Environmental Practices
Amenities inclue over 100 acres of green space, parks and woodland preserves tucked away throughout Florence Gardens. A Butterfly Boardwalk is part of a continuous pathway system that meanders through the neighborhood. The extra-wide wood and concrete pathway allows residents to walk comfortably.  The community park at Whisper Garden includes a playground, pavilion and several picnic tables scattered among the shade trees. There is also swimming pool, public meeting hall and a community garden located in the Town Green District, overlooking our beautiful Lake Florence.
 This project was constructed in two phases with an estimated total construction cost of $4 million. Civil design services included water & sewer design, road design, stormwater utility design (including low-impact rain gardens to provide stormwater quality and quantity controls), and erosion control coordination.
